Suvarnabhum Airport (Bangkok) is to have a second terminal by 2021. This is to be connected to Terminal 1 and the Airport Rail Airport Train.

Directions:

The airport can be reached via several routes. To the north of the airport, the Chon Buri Highway leads from the passenger terminal to the northern city center of Bangkok. The southern part of Bangkok can be reached via the Bang Na-Trat Highway. From the center of Bangkok you can reach the signposted airport via the Sirat Express expressway. There is also a connection to Bangkok International Airport (Don Muang). Detailed directions for these routes can be found on the airport website (see above). The journey time from the airport to the city center is approximately 40 minutes.

Transfer between the terminals:

A free shuttle bus connects the various areas of the airport with each other and with the parking lots and the nearby Novotel hotel.

Public transportation

Public transport – street:

Bus: The transport center is located northeast of the airport building near the parking zone for long-term parking. Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) buses (Tel: +66 2 246 4262) connect the airport with the city from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and travel to Minburi, Happy Land, Victory Monument, Omnuj BTS Station, Samut Prakan and Rangsit. The journey time to the city center is around 45 minutes.

A limousine service is also available and can be booked at the terminal counter in the arrival area on the 2nd floor.

Taxi: Taxis are available at the passenger terminal at gates 4 and 7 in a numbered range from 1 to 50 (journey time to the city center: 30-50 minutes; travel costs depending on the destination approx. 300-350 THB plus 50 THB for the driver) . It is advisable to book taxis at a service counter (Tel: +66 2 132 9199).

Public transport – train:

The Suvarnabhumi Airport Link, also called the Airport Rail Link, (Tel: +66 2 308 5600; Internet: www.srtet.co.th) connects the airport with the city center of Bangkok around the clock . The train station is directly under the terminal. Fast connections (Express Line) exist to Makkasan Station in the city center (Makkasan Express, travel time: 15 minutes) and to Phaya Thai Station in the city center (Phaya Thai Express Line, travel time: 17 minutes).

A slower but cheaper train (City Line) stops seven times on the route into the city center and takes almost 30 minutes to the final stop.

Facilities include ATMs, bank counters and a currency exchange.

Means of communication:

Public telephones are located on all levels of the terminal building. Free (up to two hours a day) internet access via Wi-Fi is available at various locations, two internet cafes (2nd and 4th level) are also available. A post office is located on level 2 in the G-wing.

Gastronomy:

There are several restaurants, bars, cafes and fast food restaurants on levels 3 and 4.

Shopping:

A selection of shops (including a large duty-free area) are available on levels 2, 3 and 4. Just ten minutes by car from Suvarnabhumi Airport is the huge Central Village shopping center with over 230 shops.

Luggage:

There is a luggage storage service (tel: (02) 134 77 95) on levels 2 and 4. A lost and found office (tel: (02) 132 18 80) is located on level 4. Luggage trolleys are available.

Other facilities:

There are numerous offers in the terminal building, including a traditional Thai massage and a spa. A medical ambulance (Tel: (02) 132 77 77) is located on level 1. There is a large play area for children. A Muslim prayer room is available on level 2. Marked smoking rooms are also on level 2.

Airport facilities

Conference and meeting rooms:

The airport’s business center provides extensive business facilities and conference rooms.

CIP airline lounges (Tel: +66 2 134 6284) are located on the 3rd floor. Some are only available for business and first class passengers. They offer conference rooms, multimedia entertainment and shower facilities.

Accessibility facilities:

Facilities for disabled travelers include elevators and disabled toilets. An electric car service can be booked on tel .: 134 77 72 and takes passengers to all terminal areas.

Parking spaces:

In addition to the terminal building, there are two parking garages for short-term parking with a total capacity of around 5,000 parking spaces. In addition to the parking garages, there are further parking spaces. Long-term parking is possible in a separate zone next to the transport center northeast of the airport building for approximately 4,300 cars and 78 buses. Parking information is available by phone: (Tel: +66 2 132 1888).

Car rental:

Several national and international rental car companies offer their service (Tel .: (+66) 02132 18 88), counter 2nd level, near Gate 8. Including Avis, Budget, National, Sixt and Hertz. Rental car counters are located on the arrival level of the airport building. Travelers can rent their rental cars there. The free shuttle bus takes you to the transport center, where you can pick up your car.
